....These Are a Few Of My Favorite Things

A recent challenge on SCS asked us to use some of our favorite things to create a card, and these are some of mine. Colors: Black and white is a favorite color scheme...clean and classy. Paper: My all time favorite designer paper is Basic Grey. I never met one I didn't like. Stamps: Swirls and flourishes are very popular right now and I love them. This one's from Inkadinkado. Ink: When I need black, I always use jet black Archival Ink. I love the super large inkpad, the fact that it's waterproof, and the true black color. (Let me say here, that I love Stampin'UP inkpads and use them most of the time. But I do not like or use their black...it has a very definite purple-ish cast to it.) Accessories: Love love ribbon. And it really helps that I live near a town that has a fabulous Offray ribbon outlet. I can indulge without guilt! I also love Stickles. It's easy to use, comes in oodles of colors, and adds a very subtle touch of bling. In this case I colored the black strip of cardstock with black Stickles.

Critters Baby Cards

These little stitched critters are from a very cute stamp set from Heather at H & M Stamps. She so generously provided each of my CCEE group of stamping friends with a set of our choice. I chose this one because I didn't have many stamps appropriate for baby cards. On both cards, the images are stamped on patterned paper and cut out. The horse card is created using the sketch provided for today's challenge on the SCS website.

Recipe for elephant card: stamps- Generations of Stitches (H&M Stamps); paper- white, certainly celery (SU), dp (DCWV); ink- black archival; accessories- Cuttlebug, grosgrain ribbon (Offray), oval punch (SU).

Recipe for horse card: stamps- Generations of Stitches (H&M Stamps), sentiment (Savvy Stamps); paper- vanilla, mellow moss (SU), burgandy linen, dp (Kelly Panacci); ink- black archival; accessories- brads, daisy punch (Punch a Bunch)

Okay, So Where In the Heck Is the Snow??????

I know...I used a euphemism (boy, did I ever have to look up the spelling of that one!) (and did you ever notice how hard it is to look up the spelling of a word in the dictionary when you don't know how to spell it in the first place?) (after exhausting the u's, I vaguely remembered that it might begin with eu) (and that leads to the whole subject of my belief that our language really should be spelled foneticly...uh, phonetically).
You see, this whole lack of snow thing is really doing a number on me. I'm totally discomboobulated. Most winters we have an occasional good snow, which doesn't last very long because of mild temperatures. This winter is the coldest I can remember for a while, but there hasn't been any snow. An occasional dusting at best, and I mean dusting. Can't we get the two together? We just need one big snowfall, and the cold would keep it around for the rest of the winter.
And I'm sure you've noticed my lack of a seasonal header picture. I'm really getting sick of this fall basket. My plan was to get a good winter photo from the first snowfall. Well......so much for that!
